Hardware
SHW (Silver Hardware)
Generic silver-tone term used outside Hermès.
SHW is the generic silver-tone hardware designation used for Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Dior. Less prestigious than Hermès PHW because plating durability varies by brand and era. Often refers to chrome or rhodium finishes underneath. Chanel SHW chains in particular can show plating wear after 5-10 years of regular use.
