Hardware
Brushed Hardware
Matte finish via texturing, low-key luxury.
Brushed Hardware is a finish where the metal surface is mechanically brushed or texturized to a matte appearance rather than polished smooth. Hermès uses brushed PHW (BPHW) and brushed GHW (BGHW) on special orders and select limited releases — the look is more understated and reads as stealth-luxury vs the high-shine standard finish.
Price impact
Modest premium on Hermès when paired with neutral-color leather (Étoupe, Gris Tourterelle, Béton) — typical 10-20% above polished equivalent. Pairs more aggressively with exotic skins where the brushed finish complements the muted leather aesthetic.
